Shelly Wilkerson has always felt herself to be a
right-brained person in a left-brained world. Her work in the Energy field has brought her
many ideas that developed into work related cartoons and safety posters. Her real desire
was always to paint something that would not end up in the recycle bin.
She began her art in the early years when her parents stuck the somewhat hyperactive
three-year-old in the back of the station wagon with a pad and pencil and told her to
"shut up and draw!" What began as a distraction soon became an obsession. Now
she paints whenever and wherever she can only wishing to bring about a smile. "In
this day and age of so many sad things around us, we need to focus and laugh about the
good things in life, especially those comfy long-term relationships and the unconditional
love of our little four-legged friends." Shelly lives in Mount Morris, New York with
her photographer husband (and former high-school sweetheart), Glen and their own feline
'shed machines.' |
