John Weiss John Weiss |
![]() A Big Fish Story |
| He loves dogs (he is currently owned
by a yellow lab named Maggie and a Yorkie named Mollie) and a painting he did years ago of
an English setter out in a field which got the attention of Dave Usher. But John's paintings are much more than portraits: they convey the deep and loyal bond between dogs and people. Weiss says, "I paint (scenes) people relate to, perhaps because I can relate to them myself. They're familiar moments; part of everyday life we can understand and enjoy." Developing an early appreciation and discipline of art from his father, John considers himself to be essentially self-taught. He studies the work of artist he admires and learns from their methods and techniques maintaining that "experience is the best teacher." |
