Sweet Land of Liberty
Each G. Harvey original graphic (SerilithTM) is the product of intricate detail, hundreds of man-hours and a very intimate working relationship between artist, chromist and printer.
Each individual image is carefully analyzed to determine the best suited printing method. Each screen or palate used is carefully hand-crafted. Upon approval, the first color is hand-pulled and, after completion, placed on a rack to dry overnight. The process is then repeated, using a separate screen or plate for each color.
A hand-pulled serigraph is a silk-screen printing process using stencils adhered to a silk or nylon mesh through which ink is pushed by a squeegee. Those areas where no color is desired are blocked.
A hand pulled lithograph is produced with each color hand-drawn or painted on a mylar sheet and transferred to an aluminum plate. The plate is treated to accept water, then inked with a roller and printed on a lithography press.
A Serilith TM is a mixed media process of hand-pulled lithography for the soft, subtle shading effect and hand-pulled serigraphy for brilliant, defined color.
Whether hand-pulled serigraphy, lithography, or Serilith TM the result is a truly beautiful work of fine art.
